I like these postcards from a beautiful revolution blog - one of them is above. Just genius.
Create your own gift at album mania
A little out of date but still interesting
Nice parody of apple by greenpeace
And always a treat to dip into Hoffworld
And congrats to the Aussies who just won the Wold Cup by thrashing everyone. What an innings by Gilly. WHAT A SHOT! as the great Richie Benaud would say. Pleased to see David Gower escaped from his beachside lair too.

I’ve been reading Vincent Thome’s blog for a while. I can’t remember how I found his stuff but I like it. As a relative newcomer to the advertising genre, he’s been on a number of courses funded by the good folks at DDB (those behind the VW campaigns of genius) and always pings a blog posting or seven. This time they were set a theoretical challenge on how to revive the Tango brand. This is what his team came up with.
In a similar exercise, at the Digitas strategy boot camp in November last year we were all set the task of how we could maximise breast cancer survival rates by encouraging usage of a drug for three years. Mentally and emotionally quite a tough brief. Especially when a few pints of Samuel Adams were calling along with jet lag induced insomnia. But Team 2 (”go team 2!”) pulled it out of the bag with this effort. I think Vincent had more time. Or less beer and more sleep
We also had a better logo and line than the other teams: superior performance, cheap. And we had Spam the Monkey.

You’ll need to register but lots of good stats and nuggets and things about how businesses are harnessing web 2,0 technologies, wikis, blogs etc. Get a good snippet at where I found out about this from Avenue A | Razorfish.

Men are hitting back. Well, grooms to be precise. Building on the wedding 2.0 post, it seems the grooms are getting pretty pissed off when it comes to gift lists that are all fluffy, soft, pink or china. Clubs, tools and other manly stuff is the order of the day at registered groom with their manly slogan, “hundreds of gifts, none of them pink”. I can’t help thinking this might cause a whole load of trouble. I’m pretty sure my ass owuld have got kicked.

new virals April 27, 2007

This just went live from our house actually for HP’s latest whizz bang product. The guy’s eyes c. 10 seconds from the end scare me. But you can have lots of interactive fun. This builds on the HUGE success of the Tea Running viral which must have appeared in every industry rag every side of the pond, got a wedge of you tube views and a ton of blog posts etc. And this built on the Campaign Gold award winning Personal Palmistry campaign. I got a a Silver for this Smirnoff campaign way back when.

I was just checking my blog stats (it gets addictive) and saw an incoming link that had the exact same title as my last post on decks. So I clicked through & my whole post has been copied with fuck all credit. Just as I was saying about not forgetting to be good web citizens and crediting the work. Anyway, I have emailed the offender and asked for a response! I shall keep you posted.

And Slide Share has made it easier for us to find new and exciting ways to liven up our dull old PowerPoint. Although I have recently invested 55 of your English pounds in the Keynote software (and Pages) for my Mac at home so I can hopefully create something more visually exciting. When I can be arsed, I might put some of mine up there too rather than the pathetic collection I have to date. Mind you, I think they’re funny. In the meantime:
David Byrne (he of Talking Heads) has been making art with powerpoint (the image above is one of his creations)
There’s a contest on Slide Share for the best decks. Check them out.
And this blog by Garr Reynolds has some excellent ideas and stuff.
Six emerging media trends (below) is v interesting - by the fast-acquiring guru status Greg Verdino I hope Greg is presenting at Digitas strategy boot camp in Boston next week when my good buddy Nobber Ryan is there. I had the pleasure of going there last November and Greg was one of the highlights along with Spam the Monkey. I should get round to filling in the other highlights some other time…
And I don’t know if this was entered into the awards but is perhaps how we should all be working? I cringe whenever we’re forced to get a signed scope of work back on the fax! I mean, are we really in 2007??? And I work for a digital agency.
And remember kids, don’t forget to make the right credit when using other people’s slides though. I think there must be some proper web etiquette way of doing this too. I’ll see if I can find out. Blimey, I think I’ve just managed a work-related posting.
