ziggy drank coffee March 31, 2007

Get your own David Bowie art creation on a mug and do your bit for charidee at the same time. I saw these today fleetingly in Guildford and wanted to find out more. The aim of whatever it takes is to raise a minimum of $3 million over three years to fund charitable projects in developing countries, contribute to the protection of the environment and other charitable causes. So far they’ve got “one meeellliiooon dollars!”. Drink some ziggy coffee and they might get there quicker. Or if Bowie’s not your cup of tea (no pun intended), there’s plenty of others.

Nice page take-over on Sky Sports for PS3 using the character from the ad even in the place where a head shot of some sweating/snarling sporting starlet is placed. Still couldn’t justify the best part of 500 quid for it though. Mind you, I do fancy a PSP…

Every year, a planner survey is run by Heather LeFevre from Martin Agency in the US. If you’re of the planning persuasion, fill it in at her blog and register to receive the stats so you can see how under/over paid you are and use it as leverage in your next pay review. Oh and how planning is evolving etc. Thanks to Professor Emmelkay for that.

As Virtual Worlds 2007 kicks off (yes, there’s a conference now), I thought I would share this video from Australia ABC network (thanks to Ben Liebmann) that acts as both an introduction to Second Life and its possibilities and also could act as a reference point to clients and colleagues who are buzzing about it, want to stick their brand in it but may not have actually experienced it - that can happen!

Pay some money to get a debenture seat at Lords. OK. Preferential options on tickets at Lords. OK. Access to new bar. OK. Dedicated hamper collection point. Er, what?
Surely there’s more substantiation to the proposition of forking out £8k to get a seat, no first option on a seat at Lords? The home of cricket, see Tests for the next 8 years - likely to include 2 Ashes series, fantastic viewing, history, heritage, leather on willow etc.
No, clearly the dedicated hamper collection point is close to the heart of the originator of this brief. Never mind.

Thought I’d better get back to my day job… for a bit. The IAB have released a report on in game advertising and how to reach the unreachable UK male youth market while they get PlayStation thumb.
a slagroom for 50 euro cents? March 24, 2007

As Dr. Evil says in Goldmember, “I don’t speak freaky, deaky Dutch.” But I think I may have to as I’m quite regularly there on business and have to stop myself going into schoolboy hysterics with some words.
Take these 2 examples:
On a menu, you can get a slagroom for half a Euro! Wow, we knew the Netherlands was a tolerant place but didn’t realise it was cheap too. It turns out that slagroom is whipped cream. I still find this funny.
And Fortis bank appear to be abusing me on the way from the arrivals section to the hall at Schiphol airport, Amsterdam.
And the Danes are no better as this “antique” shop in Copenhagen shows. We Europeans are clearly deviants.
Dank u wel.
